What this journey covers
This is the classic overland route from Kathmandu to Mount Kailash. You drive to the Kyirong border, cross into Tibet, acclimatize in Kyirong town, and then cross the high plateau to Lake Manasarovar and Mount Kailash. The journey includes the full three-day kora and returns by the same route.

Itinerary
- Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu Arrive in Kathmandu, transfer to your hotel, and attend the yatra briefing. Overnight in Kathmandu.
- Day 2: Kathmandu sightseeing and preparation Visit Pashupatinath Temple and Guhyeshwari for blessings. Complete trip preparation and packing. Overnight in Kathmandu.
- Day 3: Kathmandu to Syabrubesi / Kyirong border Drive through Nepal's hilly roads to the Kyirong border area. Overnight near the border.
- Day 4: Cross border to Kyirong town Complete border formalities at the Kyirong entry port and drive to Kyirong town. Overnight in Kyirong.
- Day 5: Acclimatization day in Kyirong Rest day for high-altitude acclimatization before moving higher. Short walks and final preparation. Overnight in Kyirong.
- Day 6: Drive Kyirong to Dongba Long overland drive past Tibetan plateau landscapes and the Brahmaputra River to Dongba at 4,500 metres. Overnight in Dongba.
- Day 7: Drive Dongba to Lake Manasarovar Arrive at sacred Lake Manasarovar at 4,600 metres. Perform holy bath, puja, and hawan. Overnight near the lake.
- Day 8: Drive Manasarovar to Darchen Drive to Darchen at 4,650 metres, the base camp of Mount Kailash. Prepare gear and arrange pony or porter support if needed. Overnight in Darchen.
- Day 9: First day of parikrama (Darchen to Dirapuk) Drive to Yam Dwar, then trek 14 kilometres to Dirapuk High Camp at 4,880 metres with views of the north face of Kailash. Overnight in Dirapuk.
- Day 10: Second day of parikrama via Dolma La Trek from Dirapuk to Zuthulphuk, crossing Dolma La Pass at 5,700 metres. Pass Gauri Kund and descend to Zuthulphuk at 4,670 metres. Overnight in Zuthulphuk.
- Day 11: Third day of parikrama and return to Dongba Complete the remaining 8-kilometre trek, drive back via Darchen to Dongba. Overnight in Dongba.
- Day 12: Drive Dongba back to Kyirong Return drive along the scenic Tibetan highway to Kyirong. Overnight in Kyirong.
- Day 13: Cross Kyirong border and drive to Kathmandu Complete China exit formalities and drive back to Kathmandu. Overnight in Kathmandu.
- Day 14: Final departure Airport transfer and departure.
